The Orca Friends
This web site was conceived by three individuals with a common passion for cetaceans and a desire to share our unique personal experiences with them in order to advance greater understanding of these non-human intelligent beings. We never met when we interacted with and learned to know the orcas that changed each of our lives, but have since shared our experiences with each other, and now with a much wider audience.
As is widely expressed by other web sites, we would also like to see the abolition of orca captivity, but the primary purpose of this site is to enhance understanding of the minds, thoughts and lives of these fellow travelers. Any insights into this understanding, including research findings on wild orcas, will help build a more complete picture of them, and are welcome on this site.
We operate by consensus, usually remotely over email and social media, and wish to expand our network of orca-friends as our stories inspire others with similar experiences to share theirs.
We have built this website dedicated to Canuck II and Kotar who died young and to Kasatka and Katina who have now spent all these decades in captivity.
